Embroidery Progress...

I've tested two new embroidery designs - still uncertain about the size/dimensions. The Ducati is 3.75" - cut out it would be just about 4" across.

Ducati + Matchless

My Ducati is based on the Movie Jacket site and the White version commonly found on eBay.

Dudley's Kilt Hose

Didn't really enjoy the yarn, though I think the result was nice. It was a wool/cotton blend felt dry and stiff in my hands. Hard to explain, but some yarns are just more pliable and easier.

Despite having worked from home yesterday, I still feel run down. Working these crazy hours is really taking its toll on me.

I am working on some pretty exciting stuff. I never did anything related to geocoding before. Its giving me some great programming experience to roll into NJDiners when I finally get back to it.

The good news is we filled the backend developer position on my team. This gives me some breathing room. We are looking to hire two front end developers. So if you know anyone that is a whiz with HTML, CSS and as a bonus knows jQuery - let me know!

MogileFS Maintenance

  • Dec. 2nd, 2009 at 12:18 PM
**EDIT Thu Dec 3 23:24:15 UTC 2009 **

Hey Everyone, we are about to run the last alter job that we need to on our database servers. This will effect userpics / scrapbook / vgift images for the next few hours. Have no fear, your images aren't lost, there is just a really intensive process running on the servers which store the information for mogilefs. Thank you for your understanding and all the LJ love...

Hey LJers,

I just wanted to let you all know that we are going to be performing some mogilefs maintenance over the next few days. We will be upgrading our current version to latest stable as well as changing some db config information to better handle the amount of files we are currently hosting. This shouldn't cause a big impact on site stability, but you may see some minor delays with userpic / scrapbook images appearing or other requests associated with our mogilefs. We would love to not have that happen, but unfortunately with some of the steps we need to take we have to cause a delay with images. I figured this was a better solution than taking down all of LiveJournal because well lets face it, we all need our daily LJ fix ;)

Thanks,

Besides, I like sleeping under a pile of 4 animals.

Ever since I painted the den and dining room I've been itching to continue the decorating. I have paint colors picked out for the living room and kitchen, but man - that's a LOT of painting. Maybe after Xmas. I started dragging out the holiday decorations but haven't gotten very far.

I've had this annoying cough for a few weeks now (allergies/drainage) - it's getting better, but the ever-changing weather isn't helping, and I haven't been inclined to go out much. And truthfully, I don't miss much of it.

Been trying to make progress on the embroidery front - felt like it was necessary to take a step back before going forward and analyzing everything needle/thread individually. Out of 12, I have 8 needles that are mostly stitching well... 4 that I just can't seem to figure out - changed the needle, adjusted tension... gave up.

I have a handful of commissions on my plate that I really need to crack down on, though nothing in danger of being late for Christmas. Dickens is this weekend - on the fence about going. Weather, weight, allergies, good friend's wedding... should probably just stay close to home, take care of myself, and get some sewing done.

It's almost like a real movie!

For those who celebrate it I hope you had a terrific Thanksgiving. With Christmas (or whatever holiday you participate) and New Years looming quickly ahead I am trying to get many things together in my life.

As of now I am going on hiatus from costuming for a while. For the clients I owe costume pieces to... I will be trying to get them finished up in the next month or so. You will not be left empty handed. This last year has been something else with my health (knee surgery, etc) and my fathers (who I take care of) among other things in daily life so it has slowed me down alot. I need to make some major decisions over the next few weeks. My father may have to go in for another surgery soon and albeit it may get rid of one health problem it may create another. His health and happiness right now is more important to me than anything.

I still want to keep involved in RH but going to definitely back off a bit. With that I probably will be selling off random costume pieces, raw fabrics, etc to shrink my supplies to what I absolutely want or need. Apologizes for being a little long. Thank you to everyone in the Rocky community (yes.. even the ones I don't always get along with) for being the best extended 'family' out there.

Larry V and the Home of Happiness

  • Nov. 29th, 2009 at 12:13 PM
I think my rocky coolness scale was tipped in my favor yesterday. It was 6pm and I got a phonecall/voicemail. I checked it and it was the famous Larry V (in all his col. Fabric glory) and he was requesting my appearance with his cast, because they were in a bind. It was only a few hours away. I've never been to NJ, and I was a actually in the mood. Plus, how could I turn down Larry V?! So I srinted around the house and collected all my makeup, costumes, and props. I made a mad dash for the for the shower and was out the door as fast as I could.
The NJ transit it hellaconfusing. And it took me out pretty far. I was in the goddern woods!
I got there in good time. My makeup looked better than usual and I was feeling pretty good.
The cast was nice 2 me. They accepted me in and also qquite a few asked me to please come back and perform with them more. I think I might (I wanna try their other theater.
A lot of things were different, but easy to catch on what to do.
As always, I hated dinner scene. FBC is the only cast I've performed with that doesn't jerk off durin it. O well.
I had a great time, and would be happy to fill in again, if they need me to.
After Larry drove me home. We had fun rocky talk. He is a really reeeaaalllly nice guy, and his friends are all lucky people to know him.

R.I.P. little AJ fairy

  • Nov. 28th, 2009 at 3:34 PM
So I was with AJ for 6 loooong years. He was my little cute fairy boy. I loved that skinny bastard so much that I got a symbol that reprented him, on my shoulder. It was a stick figure with wings (skinny fairy). I loved it 4 a day and hated it for the rest of its years.

Well, to say the least, I've wanted it gone 4 a long time. Its a puzzle piece of my life that I would like removed. So last nite a young young young man with a tattoo gun was here and he pulled that puzzle peice away. Littlerally. I got a puzzle peice with traces of blood around it. Its inspired by the Saw movies.

Its not neat
Its not cute
But I no long have a fairy on my arm!

If anyone is looking to replace their Frank gloves, I saw this site today

Medline will donate $1 of every case purchased to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF)

You have to order in bulk, and they're not exactly SA, but it's for a good cause!
